Artist Statement
Fascinated by and attracted to line, color theory, relationships, personalities, and composition, my work expresses my daily thoughts, visions, and ideas. I perceive, distinguish, and study many colors and traits on a regular basis. I believe that these hues and mannerisms bring existence to both animate and inanimate entities. In/with my work, I attempt to control color relationships and individualities in order to frame what my viewers see. I utilize line in many forms to show direct connections between these relationships and individualities. Composition is key with my creations, objects, and characters, as I need to feel and see a sense of balance and completeness between the colors, lines, and personalities; however, my interactions (as well as my viewers’ interactions) with the work are just as important. These exchanges between my intentions and the viewers’ interpretations are what commonly determine if my body of work is or is not “art.”
